REMINDER - OPEN LEAF BURNING WITHIN THE CITY PROHIBITED

Per Section 8.04.004 (b) of the Smithville Code of Ordinances, the burning of trash or rubbish, paper, grass, leaves, or weeds in any street or alley in the city, or in any place other than a wire, metal or brick container, or in any place other than on private premises under the immediate supervision and guard of the owner, or some competent person designated by him, or by the person in charge of such premises, is prohibited in the city.

Fire pits, chimineas, and burn barrels with screen covers are allowed inside the city limits as long as the smoke from their use does not create a nuisance (offensive odor) per Section 8.04.003 and the County has not declared a BURN BAN.  If you choose to use a fire pit or chiminea, please burn responsibly and be respectful of your neighbors.

As a reminder, the City provides weekly leaf and limb pick-up per the following schedule à http://easyedit.ci.smithville.tx.us/filemanager/files/LEAF_AND_LIMB_DIAGRAM_UPDATED_OCTOBER_2020.pdf.  For additional information, please contact City Hall on (512) 237-3282.
