Traffic Delays Expected – BP MS-150 (April 17, 2016)
Expect traffic delays on Hwy 71 and FM 153 in Smithville due to the annual BP MS-150 Fundraiser bike ride from Houston to Austin on Sunday, April 17, 2016. Delays will be heaviest from 7:00 am to 1:00 pm. The BP MS 150 is a two-day fundraising bike ride organized by the National MS Society South Central Region. The BP MS 150 is the largest of the 100 Bike MS events in the United States with 13,000 cyclists and 3,500 volunteers with countless spectators along the route and at the finish line in Austin. In 2015 the BP MS 150 had a record breaking year raising $20.3 million dollars to help create a world free of multiple sclerosis. The fundraising goal for the 2016 BP MS 150 is $20 million dollars.
There will be two (2) break points in Smithville. One at Hwy 71 and Kellar Road and one at Buescher State Park. Please exercise caution in these areas. Here is a link to the MS-150 website for more information à MS-150.
