COVID-19 UPDATE: CITY FACILITY CLOSURES

The City of Smithville will close all public access to city facilities until further notice effective Friday, March 20, 2020 at 8:00 am. This includes City Hall, the Smithville Public Library, the Smithville Recreation Center, Visitor Center, City Warehouse, the RV Park at Riverbend, Police Department, and the Municipal Court. All city parks will remain open. However, public restrooms will be closed due to the shortage (and theft) of cleaning and paper supplies.

Please note that this decision was not made lightly, and we understand the impact it will have on our community but ensuring public safety remains our top priority. While in-person assistance will be at a minimum, garbage pick-up, leaf & limb pick-up, water, wastewater, electric, fire, and police services will remain unaltered. Citizens are encouraged to pay their utility bills on-line or through the drop-box. If paying on-line, the $4.00 processing fee will be waived. No utility services will be disconnected during the COVID-19 disaster declaration.

City staff in all departments will be available by phone and/or email to assist the public in all capacities regarding City Services. The City of Smithville has implemented these measures to help keep our residents and City staff safe. We will continue to closely monitor the Coronavirus pandemic and inform the public of any changes as conditions warrant.

Since this situation is rapidly evolving, please continue to stay informed and take necessary precautions to ensure the safety of our community. For questions regarding city services, contact City Hall on 512-237-3282. For more information regarding COVID-19, contact the Bastrop County COVID-19 Hotline on 512-303-4300.
