COVID-19 Testing May 5, 2020
The City of Elgin and the City of Smithville will host mobile drive-through COVID-19 testing sites on Tuesday, May 5th. This is a collaborative initiative between the Texas Department of State Health Services, Texas Division of Emergency Management, the Texas Military Department, Emergency Medical Task Force, and the Hospital Preparedness Program Healthcare Coalitions. There is no cost for testing received at either of these sites.
Appointments will be taken on Monday, May 4th beginning at 8:00 a.m. To register for an appointment, please visit txcovidtest.org. First responders need to call 512-883-2400 to register.
If you try to register before May 4th, you will be sent to another county for testing.
Testing will be done by the Texas Military Department, and the number of tests administered will be limited. Testing will be offered to First Responders and any individual who has symptoms of COVID-19.
To qualify for the testing, individuals will be screened online to see if they have any of the following symptoms:
- Fever and/or Chills
- Cough (Dry or Productive)
- Fatigue
- Body aches/Muscle or Joint Pain
- Shortness of Breath
- Sore Throat
- Headaches
- Nausea/Vomiting/Diarrhea
- Nasal Congestion
- Loss of Taste and/or Smell
The appointment-only testing is scheduled for Tuesday, May 5th from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the following two locations:
- Elgin Recreation Center – 361 State Hwy 95 North, Elgin, Texas
- Household Hazardous Waste Facility – 109 Taylor Street, Smithville, Texas
Do not arrive without scheduling an appointment. You must be registered.

La ciudades de Elgin y Smithville albergarán sitios de prueba de conducción móvil para el COVID-19 el martes, 5 de mayo. Esta es una iniciativa de colaboración entre el Departamento de Servicios de Salud del Estatales de Texas, División de Gestión de Emergencias de Texas, el Departamento Militar de Texas, Fuerza de Tarea Médica de Emergencias, y las Coaliciones de Atención Médica para el Programa de Preparación Hospitalaria. No cuesta por la prueba en ninguno de estos sitios.

Si trata de registrarse antes del 4 de mayo, lo enviarán a otro condado para tomar la prueba.
El Departamento Militar de Texas hará las pruebas, y se limitará la cantidad de pruebas realizadas. Se ofrecerán las pruebas a los primeros respondedores y cualquier persona que tenga síntomas del COVID-19.
Para calificar para la prueba, se examinarán en línea para ver si tienen cualquiera de los siguientes síntomas:
- Fiebre y / o escalofríos
- Tos (seca o productiva)
- Fatiga
- Dolor de cuerpo/dolor muscular o articular
- Dificultad para respirar
- Dolor de garganta
- Dolor de cabeza
- Náuseas/vómitos/diarrea
- Congestión nasal
- Pérdida de gusto y olfato
Se programan pruebas solo con cita para el martes, 5 de mayo, de las 8 de la mañana hasta las 5 de la tarde en las siguientes ubicaciones:
