Citizens Honored with DAR Historic Preservation Award
SMITHVILLE—Smithville residents David Herrington and Carol Snyder were awarded the prestigious “Excellence in Historic Preservation” by the Smithville chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).
The award recognizes Herrington and Snyder’s many contributions to the preservation of Smithville’s history. The two played a key role in the creation of Smithville’s Independence Park, located where Loop 230 intersects with Hwy. 95. Together they authored the book, “Smithville,” published in 2008. Both have served on the mayor’s committee for historic preservation.
The DAR award also celebrates Herrington and Snyder’s ongoing research of the “many heroes who have made Smithville what it is today.”
