WINTER WEATHER UPDATE #2 - February 3, 2022 @ 3:45 P
As of 3:45 pm, ALL major roads into and out of Smithville are passable with minor ice / sleet accumulation on the 4th Avenue bridge, FM2571 bridge, or SH95 river bridge. However, the Smithville PD reports that the Colorado Road overpass on Hwy 71 does have significant ice accumulation. TXDOT has been notified. If you don’t absolutely need to travel, please stay off the roads. For the latest on road conditions go to drivetexas.org. Bastrop County has set up a hotline for you to call at 512-303-4300 for nonemergency information regarding this Winter Weather Event.
OTHER INFORMATION - Smithville ISD has cancelled classes for Friday, February 4, 2022. City garbage services have now been postponed until Monday. There has been only one (1) weather-related power outage at SH95 and FM535 that impacted citizens who live in the area for approximately 1-hour. The precipitation is forecast to end by 6:00 pm. Temperatures will continue to drop with lows expected in the teens tomorrow.
City Offices will reopen at 10:00 am tomorrow.
