URGENT NOTICE – ROAD CLOSURE / DETOUR DUE TO TRAIN DERAILMENT
At approximately 3:00 pm on July 9, 2021 the City of Smithville received notice that a Union Pacific Train derailed blocking HWY-95 at the MLK BLVD and 4th Avenue railroad crossings. No one was injured during the incident and the train was not carrying any hazardous cargo. Union Pacific estimates that the crossings identified above will be blocked for the next 4-6 hours.
