Community Engagement Coordinator

City of Smithville seeks Community Engagement Coordinator who will be responsible for facilitating and coordinating a robust community engagement strategy for the City of Smithville, with a particular focus on building relationships and trust with community members, volunteers, local community partners and service providers. The Coordinator will manage projects designed to increase community engagement, post/manage information on social media, cultivate relationships across diverse communities, facilitate community meetings, and otherwise work to ensure multi-directional communication between the City and the community of Smithville. Minimum qualifications include Bachelor’s degree plus two years’ experience in the field; knowledge of computer programs including social media; understanding of “Netweaving” concepts. Heavy Equipment Operator

The City of Smithville is currently seeking applications for a Heavy Equipment Operator.  Must have a Highschool diploma or GED, and Valid Texas Driver’s License; Class C. Must have knowledge and experience in heavy equipment, maintenance, and operations. Water/ Wastewater Foreman

Oversees employees involved in the operation and maintenance of water/wastewater distribution, treatment, and collection. Also performs related work as required. High School Diploma or GED, 1-year experience in water and wastewater treatment, construction, operation, and maintenance. Additional accredited courses in water and wastewater operations are preferred. Certificate of competence as mandated by the appropriate Texas Agency. Class C Water/ Wastewater License. Possesses a valid Texas Driver’s License. Police Officer: The City of Smithville is currently seeking applications for Police Officer. Applicants must possess, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid State Drivers’ License without a record of suspension or revocation in any state; ability to meet the Department’s physical standards. Formal application, education, and experience; offer of employment; psychological examination; drug screening. Position works on assigned shifts using own judgment in deciding course of action; is expected to handle difficult and emergency situations while patrolling the city streets, parks, commercial and residential areas.
