The City of Smithville is currently seeking applications for Electric Laborer/Helper: Assist Journey-level craft personnel in the performance of routine repairs and maintenance of power lines, and associated work. Performs routine repairs and maintenance and assist in more complex maintenance and repair of the utility system. Applicants must have a High School diploma/GED and a valid Driver’s License. Candidates should be aware that this position requires successful applicants to work overtime, which includes extended days, call-out for emergency work, and on-time weekend and holiday work. Police Officer: The City of Smithville is currently seeking applications for Police Officer. Applicants must possess, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid State Drivers’ License without a record of suspension or revocation in any state; ability to meet the Department’s physical standers. Formal application, education, and experience; offer of employment; psychological examination; drug screening. Position works on assigned shifts using own judgment in deciding course of action; is expected to handle difficult and emergency situations while patrolling the city streets, parks, commercial and residential areas.
