Electric Laborer/Helper: Assist Journey-level craft personnel in performance of routine repairs and maintenance of power lines, and associated work. Performs routine repairs and maintenance and assist in more complex maintenance and repair of the utility system. Applicants must have a High School diploma/GED and a valid Driver’s License and Class B Commercial License or able to obtain one within 6 months of hire. Candidates should be aware that this position requires successful applicants to work overtime, which include extended days, call-out for emergency work, and at time weekend and holiday work. Heavy Equipment Operator
This position is primarily responsible for transporting and operating various types of heavy equipment in the repair and maintenance of the city facilities, streets, drainage ways, right-of- ways, and various other outdoor areas. Applicants must have a High School Diploma/ GED, a valid Texas Driver’s License, a Commercial Driver’s License or able to obtain within six (6) months of hire. Candidates should be aware this position requires successful applicant to work overtime, which includes extended days, call-out for emergency work, and at times weekend and holiday work. Peace Officer: The City of Smithville is currently seeking applications for Peace Officer. Applicants must possess, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid State Drivers’ License without record of suspension or revocation in any state; ability to meet Department’s physical standers. Formal application, education and experience; offer of employment; psychological examination; drug screening. Position works on assigned shifts using own judgment in deciding course of action; is expected to handle difficult and emergency situations while patrolling the city streets, parks, commercial and residential areas.
